Sound | Series of Illustration Poster

《Sound》is a series of illustration poster inspired by Gertrude Stein's Poetry "Tender Buttons(1912)". In this book, she said,

A Sound

Elephant beaten with candy and little pops and chews all bolts and reckless reckless rats, this is this.

For me, sound is a vibration which is indicated by motion. It is a mixture of tone, color and texture. In this work, I try to create some texture by experimenting printing and scanning process. Then combined them into my illustrations. I use the texture I made to create a movement in these images, like dancing figures, waves or the sentences out of the book. Printed on recycle paper by Risograph so that you can see the layer between each materials.

On the back side of these posters, I organize most of the lines in this book and overlapped them, so the sentences can also create a kind of vibration. I picked up the lines that related to my concept of sound into bold size which can also refer to my work and how I did it.
For example, "A sound, a whole sound is not separation, a whole sound is in an order."-Roast Beef by Gertrude Stein.
